About us

The proprietors of Papa & Nonna’s Pizzeria, Domenick and Kara Bellavigna, have had a long career in the food service industry. It all began in Domenick’s youth when he helped his church serve food at the Italian-American Festival in Watkins Glen, NY. He continued serving food at that festival for years with his church and eventually on his own with his own food trailer. Once Domenick met Kara, they served together at the festival and started branching out as a team, running a concession stand in Clute Park on the beautiful Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen, NY and opening their first restaurant, The Fireside Restaurant in Watkins Glen, NY. Over the next several years, they continued doing many food service ventures from running their restaurant, to catering, to running concessions, and participating in the Italian-American Festival.

Life together shifted as the family started growing. Those beginning food service adventures took a hiatus until the family was complete with four children. Once the children were older, the bug to get back into the food service industry hit again. The family of six began cooking as a team for church events and running a concession stand at the Rec Park during baseball where the kids either helped inside the stand or were playing on a team.

Wanting to continue to foster a love of cooking and serving, the Bellavigna family decided to open Mafia Pizza at it’s first location at the entrance to Aucilla Shores on Ashville Hwy. The whole Bellavigna family worked the restaurant as a team drawing many patrons from the surrounding communities. Mafia Pizza was eventually moved to Monticello where the Bellavigna’s continued working as a team along side many employees who became like family. After a few years, the Bellavigna’s sold Mafia Pizza to one such employee. He and his family ran it for 2 ½ years, but unfortunately could no longer continue to do so and the restaurant reverted back to the Bellavigna’s.

Domenick and Kara became Papa & Nonna with the birth of their first grandchild in 2022. To represent their growing family and to make a fresh start, the name of the restaurant was changed to Papa & Nonna’s Pizzeria. Our goal as a family is to make each patron feel like they are family while enjoying delicious food in a family friendly atmosphere. Welcome to Papa & Nonna’s Pizzeria, where family comes to eat.
